Fiori Coffee Award Winning Gournmet Coffee at the The CSR Golden Bean

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Perth based specialty coffee roaster Fiori Coffee have taken out a number of prestigeous awards yet again at the CBR Golden Bean Competition with the only gold medal in WA, plus a silver and two bronze.

Now in it’s fourth year, The CSR Sugar Golden Bean Roaster Competition & Conference has attracted over seven hundred entries from Australia’s 330 coffee roasters, making it one of the biggest coffee roasting competitions in the world.

Last year Firori Coffee won the competition outright.

Out of over 700 entries from 330 coffee roasteries Australia wide Fiori Coffee’s Kenyan Dorman AA topped the list in the ‘Filter’ category for the gold.  They received the silver medal for our Ethiopian Natural Harrar in the ‘Retail Filter’, Bronze for the Fiori Blend in the ‘Milk Based’ category and Bronze for their Organic Blend in the ‘Organic’ category.

Firori Coffee trained two young roasters to championship winning level this year using their traditional equipment and artisan methods. It takes massive dedication and skill to roast on fully manual equipment but in turn they are now true craftsmen.

Fiori Coffee is available Australia wide from Coffee Shrine – Try some today. Buy Fiori Coffee

Pony Espress O Cafe – Hidden West Perth Gem

Thursday, December 10th, 2009
Great use of small outdoor spaces

Great use of small outdoor spaces

Located at the back of a historical refurbished stable, down Mayfair Street in West Perth is a quirky new establishment that is a hidden Gem in West Perth.
Pony Express O (takes its name from the fact that it is located in the trendy, 1900’s built heritage listed Ashton Stables on Mayfair Street) makes great use of its unique environment that has somehow survived the corporate sprawl of its location.

Located down a lane at the back of the old stable, most West Perth workers would be unaware of its presence, yet for the well informed it offers a unique escape from the corporate grind.

Pony Express O makes a great use of its shaded outdoor space, with a long bench and artificial turf which somehow lures you into forgetting just where you are and encourages you to chat to the stranger sitting next to you.

The indoor space, the stable, is exposed face brick and features a long solid timber bench sprawled with the daily papers and magazines.

Garrett, of Blink Cafe in Fremantle, is a one man band here making great consistent coffee at his relaxed pace in this relaxed environment. The Coffee is fresh and is roasted by Crema – not my favourite blend in West Perth but is consistent and well made.

Bring your own lunch here as Pony Express O is pretty much just Coffee Shop apart from a few biscuits and cakes – it sticks to its knitting and what it does it does well.

Regular Coffees are $4.00 which is a little above average price for the area.

Caffe Latte Anyone?

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

coffee-shrine-cafe-latte.jpgA caffe latte is literally a “milky coffee” – espresso with both a steamed milk and milk froth.

A key part of the the traditional Italian breakfast where they are served in a bowl accompanied by your favorite pastry or biscotti, you are unlikely to see caffe lattes severed in Italian cafes except to foreigners.

Caffe latte and it’s variation the flat white are today two of the most popular espresso coffee drinks served from cafe’s and Office Coffee Machines throughout Australia.

Caffe Latte Australian Version
Extract 30mls of espresso into lattee glass
Pour creamy textured milk into glass leaving 1cm of foam
draw crema to the surface of the coffee

Variations
8oz cup – 1 shot of coffee
12oz cup – 2 shots of coffee
16oz cup – 3 shots of coffee

Office Coffee Machines – 2008’s must have end of financial year capital item

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

High interest rate, petrol prices and inflation outside the reserve bank’s comfort zone. These are not typically the economic conditions that you would expect would to accompany a significant rise in sales of luxury capital equipment items such as Office Coffee Machines.

But then again, are Office Coffee Machines still a luxury item, or are they becoming an essential in maintaining a competitive and rewarding Office Environment.

“Despite the doom and gloom we are hearing about every day, this June has seen a 30% increase in sales of high end Office Coffee Machine’s over the same period last year,” said Cathy Ballardin, National Sales director for one of Australia’s leading Office Coffee Players, Coffee Shrine. “We are experiencing a record number of leads every day and we have had to boost the number of installation technicians in most states over the last 3 months.

The apparent boom in Office Coffee Machine sales is appearing to be counter cyclical to general spending in the economy. A highly competitive labour market and employers ooking for productivity increases are cited as the top reasons why more and more organisations are considering this sort of capital expenditure as an investment rather than a cost to their business.

Brands such as Saeco, HLF, N&W Necta, Schaerer and Isomac are all reporting strong year on year growth and smaller office coffee companies seem to be feeling the pinch – struggling to meet demand.

Automatic, Fully Automatic and Super Automatic Home Coffee Machines

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Following on from our article on traditional coffee machines, this article helps to explain the different types of Automatic Coffee Machines for the home and how they differ to traditional Coffee Machines. Home Automatic Automatic Coffee Machines are the most popular choice for domestic home use. An Automatic Coffee System allows you to simply insert the coffee beans into the espresso machines bean hopper and it will take care of the rest of the coffee making process for you.
Fully Automatic Coffee Machines from Coffee Shrine

Your Auto Coffee Machine will grind, dose and tamp the coffee, dose the water and brew. Your Automatic Coffee Maker will also provide hot water and steam through a steam wand or auto frother or cappuccinatore.

Automatic, Fully Automatic and Super Automatic Espresso Machines fall into different price ranges depending on additional features such as: Does the machine have a bypass doser? Are the heating elements the single, or dual type? Does the machine feature a touch screen, digital display, or indicator lights? How advanced is its programmability? Can you adjust the coffee dose? Does it warm your cup? Does it filter water?

Coffee Shrine makes it simple to choose your Automatic Coffee Machine. Our FAQ’s explain the different coffee machine features. Our simple to feature comparison function allows you to easily compare features and our advanced search lets you search our range of machines by feature.

Office Coffee – A Win Win for Employers and Employees

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

If you’re looking for an inexpensive yet highly regarded benefit to offer your employees, an espresso coffee at work service may be right for your company. An office coffee service vendor can supply your office with a variety of hot beverages at reasonable prices and state-of-the-art brewing equipment for a lot less than you may think.

Consumables and supplies such as coffee beans, hot chocolate, soups, chai, tea, flavoured coffee milk powder – unless you use fresh milk, paper coffee cups, stirrers and sugar, are delivered as often as you’d like, and in many cases delivery technicians will even clean and service the equipment. The benefits of coffee services are many.

  • Employees get to enjoy their favorite beverages at no cost whenever they want.
  • Employees no longer leave the workplace to get their coffee hit (you prevent downtime and lost labour by keeping workers at their desks rather than in long lines at the local coffee shop)
  • The coffee machine is a great place to catch up, shoot the breeze and have informal meetings about projects and work activities
  • A coffee service helps motivate employees and increase their productivity. (A 2006 study by the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) showed that 79% of office employees with access to complimentary coffee and other hot beverages are more productive and feel appreciated by their employers. )

If you’re interested in coffee service for your company, contact Coffee Shrine today to request a free no obligation consultation from one of our passionate highly knowledgeable product managers on the best Office Coffee Service Solution for your workplace.
